From the very beginning, lightweight towables have been part of who we are at Jerry’s RV. They’re versatile, easy to tow, and perfect for exploring Atlantic Canada. Over the years, we’ve learned what matters most to our customers: practicality, comfort, and designs that fit real-life adventures.
And because we’ve specialized in lightweight campers for so long, many customers see us as their go-to destination in Nova Scotia for lightweight RVs, teardrop trailers, and small SUV-towable campers. For many of you, that story has included Prolite. Their Canadian-built ultralight trailers have been a cornerstone of our lightweight selection for years, and we’re proud to continue offering their premium line. This year, Prolite is expanding with a brand-new Eco series, and our first Eco model to arrive will be the Mini Eco.
As we introduce our 2026 lineup, our focus on lightweight RVs is only getting stronger - with Prolite’s Premium and new Eco models, Modern Buggy’s Little Buggy and Big Buggy teardrop-style campers, and a fresh lineup of lightweight Coachmen Remotes all joining the mix. It means more choices, more flexibility, and more ways to find the right fit for your tow vehicle and travel style.
The world of lightweight RVs is changing quickly, and we’re excited to be part of that progress. This fall, our journey to discover what’s next led us to a small but passionate manufacturer we can’t wait to introduce to you - Modern Buggy.
Exploring What's Next in Lightweight RVs
In September, Chardell and I traveled to Elkhart, Indiana - the RV capital of the world - for Open House Week. Every year, the countryside transforms into one giant showcase, with Forest River’s Expo, Thor’s Open House, and countless smaller displays set up spread throughout the area. Picture row after row of trailers, new concepts, and fresh ideas from manufacturers big and small. It’s one of the best opportunities to see where the RV industry is heading, all concentrated in one busy, energetic week.
We spent days walking through everything from mid-size trailers to park models to the newest ultralight and teardrop-style campers, taking notes and comparing what different manufacturers were bringing to the table. We also had the chance to speak directly with the people behind the products, the decision makers, engineers, and production teams, which gave us valuable insight into their design choices and future direction. All of that time on the ground helped us see which brands were pushing innovation forward and which ones were building RVs that truly fit the needs of campers here in Atlantic Canada.
Discovering Modern Buggy
One display we just couldn’t stop returning to was Modern Buggy. We visited their booth five times, yes, five! Each time we got drawn in a little more until we knew we were hooked. That curiosity led us to their facility in Michigan, where we met the team and saw exactly how each trailer is built.
Modern Buggy isn’t your typical manufacturer. They’re small, independent, and incredibly proud of what they build. What really stood out to us was the pace and style in which they work. Because they build in small batches, their team can take a slower, more intentional approach - carefully fitting, checking, and finishing each unit as it moves through the build process. It’s a different rhythm than a large-scale operation, not better or worse, just uniquely suited to the kind of small, design-focused lightweight and teardrop campers they produce. It’s a thoughtful kind of craftsmanship that gives their trailers a distinct, personal feel.
Why We Chose Modern Buggy
We loved that Modern Buggy lightweight campers are designed with intention. Lightweight doesn’t mean basic, it means smart, efficient, and easy to tow with smaller SUVs. These models have solid construction, great balance, and a clean modern style that makes them stand out on the lot. They’re also surprisingly feature-rich for their size: many features that are optional on other lightweight towables including air conditioning, solar, power awning, and a full tank monitoring system come standard on many Modern Buggy models. We also appreciated Modern Buggy’s fully woodless construction, which adds durability and helps protect against moisture.
Another thing that caught our attention was the competitive price point. Modern Buggy trailers deliver premium quality and fresh design at a level that fits real budgets. It’s a balance of value and craftsmanship that just feels right for our customers who want compact, efficient, and adventure-ready campers.
Our first Modern Buggy units arrived in New Minas - a mix of Big Buggy and Little Buggy models that mark the start of this new addition to our lightweight lineup.
What This Means for Our Customers
We’re always looking for ways to bring more variety and value to our customers, and Modern Buggy helps us do exactly that. Whether you’re towing with a smaller SUV, downsizing for easier travel, or just starting your RV journey, these trailers offer freedom and flexibility without the bulk.
And importantly, Modern Buggy doesn’t replace our longtime lightweight partners like Prolite. With Prolite’s proven Premium series, their new Eco models, Modern Buggy’s handcrafted teardrop-style campers, and the upcoming lightweight Coachmen Remotes, our customers will have more ways than ever to find the perfect match for their towing setup and camping style.
Their durability makes them perfect for weekend getaways or longer adventures across the Maritimes. And because they’re built by teams that genuinely love what they do, we’re confident you’ll feel that difference the moment you step inside.
